It will be the first World Exposition to entertain the theme of "Better City, Better Life" where they will explore new approaches to human habitat, lifestyle and working conditions in the new century.
Silently standing guard for over 2 millennia, the life-size army of Xian's Terracotta warriors and horses is the most significant archeological excavation of the 20th century.
The construction of this mausoleum began in 246 BC, when Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of China, ascended the throne. In 1974, local farmers near the Xian, Shaanxi province discovered the Terracotta figures.
One of Xian's most famous landmarks, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was completed in AD 652 to house the Buddhist sutras brought back from India by the monk Xuan Zang.
Just north of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, is the biggest Tang-culture square composed of waterscape fountains, gardens and impressive large-scale sculptures.
The Banpo Museum, located just east of Xian at the base of the Banpo excavation site, houses a fascinating collection of artifacts from this very early settlement of a Neolithic matriarchal community dating back about 6,000 years.
On the northern bank of the Yangtze River, Fengdu is about 107 miles from Chongqing and 296 miles form Yichang. With over 2000 years of history, Fengdu County is known as the resting place for the spirits of the dead.

Shibaozhai, which literally translates to Stone Treasure Fortress, is located in Zhong County at the south bank of the Yangtze River. First built in 1750 during the Qing Dynasty, Shiboazhai has dramatically transformed its appearance throughout the years.
Most notable is the 12 story wooden architecture that stands on the riverside. Each of the 12 floors has been dedicated to a famous general of The Three Kingdoms and contains cultural artifacts, paintings and sculptures.
Wangzhou means "myriad-prefecture" and signifies the the point where both a myriad of rivers meet and where traders gather. Because of the Three Gorges Dam construction, nearly 47% of the Wanzhou's old urban areas will be underwater by the time the reservoir is filled.
Qutang Gorge is the smallest, but the most majestic of the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River. The gorge begins at Baidi City and winds its way down to Daxi Town in Wushan Country. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to take in many of the gorges' most scenic spots.
Also known as Da Xia or Large Gorge, the Wu Gorge is the second of the Three Gorges. It is most famous for it serene elegance.
Covering over 25 miles, it starts at the Daning River (just east of Wushan) and ends at Guandukou in Badong (Hubei provinence).
A very important tributary in the Three Gorges Reservoir, The Daning River is famous for its scenery and its crystal clear waters. Sailing down this picturesque river, you'll be awe inspired by its beauty and serene atmosphere.

Shennong Stream is another tributary on the Yangtze River that flows swiftly from north to south through the deep gorges. As you cruise along the zigzagging watercourse, you'll be able to take in the mysterious and unique culture that lies along bank.

The famous Three Gorges Dam spans the Yangtze River in Sandouping, and is the world's largest electricity-generating plant of any kind. The dam was recently completed in 2006, but all the originally planned dam components was not completed until 2008.

At the heart of Beijing is the world's largest public square, Tiananmen Square.
On a clear day, the views at this historical square can be breathtaking with kites soaring through the sky and tourist huddling together for quintessential photo opportunity with the great helmsman's portrait.
The Forbidden City was home to 24 different Chinese emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties and the main stage for five centuries of royal intrigue, drama and scandal.
Today, it is the best-preserved collection of ancient architecture with 800 buildings spanning 720,000 sq meters.
The Temple of Heaven was built in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty for Emperors to worship Heaven and to solemnly pray for good harvest. True to its sacred purpose, the Temple of Heaven was designed to reflect the mystical cosmological laws believed to be rooted in workings of the universe.
Spanning 3,700 miles across China, The Great Wall is a genuine masterpiece of engineering and architecture.
This impressive brick and earth structure dates back to the Ming dynasty, when the wall was built to defend against Mongol forces to the North. The Great Wall stands 26 feet tall and 23 feet wide at the base.
The Royal Mausoleum of Ming comprises of mausoleums for 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty and 7 tombs for the imperial concubines. Built in 1409, this complex took more than 200 years to build.
Today, it still remains to be one of the must luxurious and awe- inspiring architectural structures built in China.
