Who qualifies to purchase Worry Free Fares? ^TOP
There are two ways to qualify – you either have to be at least 55 years of age or, if you are traveling with a companion, your companion has to be at least 55 years of age at the time of departure. At least one person in the itinerary must be 55 years of age or older. Either way, whoever ends up purchasing Worry Free Fares online at www.cathay-usa.com/55plus must be a registered Cathay Pacific eNews subscriber and must use his/her personal credit card to purchase the tickets. (If you are not a Cathay Pacific eNews subscriber, you can easily register online at http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_US/offerspromotions/cxpecials. Registration is free.)

Given that Worry Free Fares are booked online, how do you check that I qualify? ^TOP
Proof of age will be required at time of check-in for your Cathay Pacific outbound flight – agents will check to make sure the purchaser or the companion (if there are 2 in the reservation) is at least 55 years of age at the time of departure. To avoid being charged a higher fare at check-in, be sure that either yourself or your companion (if traveling with a companion) is at least 55 years of age at the time of departure.

I'm not 55 years old and neither is my companion, can I still take advantage of these fares? ^TOP
Sorry, these fares are specially priced for the mature traveler in mind. At least one person in the itinerary must be 55 years of age or older. Please go to http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_US/homepage to purchase your tickets.

How many passengers can book on the same reservation? ^TOP
You can purchase a ticket for yourself and one other person, so long as you both are traveling on the same itinerary. If there are more than 2 people in your reservation, separate bookings will need to be created for the additional travelers. At least one person in the reservation must be 55 years of age or older and a Cathay Pacific eNews subscriber.

When can I make changes? ^TOP
Prior to departure, you can change your travel dates, your destination beyond Hong Kong and companion name (keep in mind that at least one of the two travelers must still be 55 years of age). These changes are subject to availability and fare differential; that is, the adjusted dates of travel and destination may be at a different price if the U.S. departure date is effected. Keep in mind that you have a 30-day maximum travel period that begins on the day you depart. Please make changes at least 4 days prior to your scheduled departure date to allow time to reissue ticket. If you are traveling with an e-ticket, please call Cathay Pacific Reservations at 1-800-233-2742. If you are traveling with a paper ticket, please call Cathay Pacific Reservations at 1-800-233-2742. You will be advised of the procedure on how tickets will be reissued (if it is required).

After departure, you can make changes (subject to availability) to your return travel date to the U.S. Or, if you are traveling beyond Hong Kong, you can make changes to your date to/from your pre-determined destination. Keep in mind that you have a 30-day maximum travel period that begins on the day you depart the U.S. Please also note, once your travel has commenced you cannot make any name changes or change your destination or add a destination beyond Hong Kong. To make changes to your return and/or onward travel date beyond Hong Kong, please go to the Cathay Pacific city ticketing office in Hong Kong or your Asia destination prior to your new scheduled departure. Please click here for contact information on Cathay Pacific city ticketing office worldwide. If you are traveling between New York and Vancouver B.C., you can make date changes to your ticket by contacting Cathay Pacific Reservations at 1-800-233-2742. Tickets cannot be changed at the airport.

  How do I request a refund? ^TOP
Worry Free Fare tickets are 100% refundable prior to departure. If you wish to refund your e-ticket contact Cathay Pacific Reservations at 1-800-233-2742 prior to your scheduled departure date and inform them that you want to cancel your booking and request a refund. If you wish to refund your paper ticket you must call our North America Reservations at 1-800-233-2742 prior to your scheduled departure date and inform them that you want to cancel your booking and request a refund. To claim your refund, please mail your tickets (make a copy for your records) to the following address:

Please note that cancellations after departure are non-refundable but you can make any travel date changes at any time at no charge, subject to availability. For changes prior to your scheduled departure, a minimum of 4 days is required for processing. Additionally, when there are two in the reservation and one needs to refund the ticket, the remaining traveler must be at least 55 years of age or both tickets need to be refunded.

How can I find the lowest fare? ^TOP
To help you find the least expensive dates of travel, go to Find Lowest Fares. You'll view at a glance available travel dates categorized as low, mid and high season. Fares are usually cheaper for mid-week (Monday - Thursday) travel and during low seasons, so you may want to plan a mid-week departure during low season to get the lowest fare possible.

Can I book in any class of service? ^TOP
At this time, Worry Free Fares are for Economy Class tickets only. If you wish to travel in Business or First Class, please purchase your tickets at http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_US/homepage or see your travel agent.

I'm traveling beyond Hong Kong, can I stopover in Hong Kong and for how long? ^TOP
Worry Free Fares allow you to stopover in Hong Kong in both directions of your roundtrip travel if you are traveling to one of the Worry Free destinations beyond Hong Kong. You can stopover in Hong Kong as many days as you like so long as your entire journey, from the day you depart the USA to the day you return to the USA, does not exceed 30 days.

What is the maximum travel period? ^TOP
You have up to 30 days of travel on Worry Free Fares. The 30-day period is based on the day you depart the USA to the day you return to the USA.

I don't live in New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco, so how do I connect with your flight? ^TOP
You must purchase a separate ticket on a domestic carrier that flies from your hometown to the Cathay Pacific gateway. Many domestic carriers have convenient connections with our flights. You can purchase the domestic portion of your travel online at http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_US/homepage or visit one of the other airline's web site like American Airlines at www.aa.com.

Can I earn frequent flyer miles when I buy a Worry Free Fare? ^TOP
Worry Free tickets are eligible to earn miles in the Asia Miles frequent flyer program. Regretfully, Worry Free tickets are not eligible to earn miles in the American Airlines AAdvantage® frequent flyer program. For more information about Asia Miles, please visit www.asiamiles.com

I am not holding a U.S. passport, where can I find information about required visas? ^TOP
Please contact the local consulate of the country you are visiting for detailed information on visas. Passengers are responsible for obtaining the necessary visas to enter certain countries. Passengers must also make sure that their passport has a sufficient remaining validity period for entry into the countries being entered or transited. If you are flying from New York, please note that Cathay Pacific Airways' flights between New York (JFK) and Hong Kong stops in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Passengers are responsible for obtaining a Vancouver transit visa (if required depending on passport type) when flying between New York (JFK) and Hong Kong. Please be sure to obtain the required visa (if needed) before purchasing any airfares.

Applications for the Canadian transit visa can be obtained from the Canadian Consulate in New York located at 1251 Avenue of the Americas (on 6th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets). The passenger's passport and two passport-sized photos must be submitted with the application between the hours of 8:00-10:00 a.m. only. And if everything is in order, the passport with the transit visa can be picked up after 1:00 p.m. the same day. If you have further questions, please contact the Canadian Consulate at (212) 596-1700.

Please see the following "Visiting Canada" website for further information regarding transit visa: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/guides/5256e2.html.

What is an electronic ticket (e-ticket)? ^TOP
Electronic ticket (e-ticket) allows you to travel without the use of paper tickets. Ticket information is electronically stored, and you receive only a confirmation of your itinerary and receipt through your email. Please be sure to print a copy of your confirmation email and bring it to the airport along with your other required travel documents. It is highly recommended that you purchase your e-ticket online no later than 4 days before your day of departure in order to ensure that your e-ticket transaction is processed accordingly.

Will I be receiving an electronic ticket (e-ticket) or a traditional paper ticket for my purchase? ^TOP
Your ticket will be issued as an electronic ticket (e-ticket). However, in instances where e-ticket is not available, a paper ticket will be issued and mailed to you. A paper ticket will be issued if your travel itinerary includes codeshare flights*, joint-venture flights** or selected destinations.

* Our codeshare flights are operated by one of our partner carriers.
** Our joint venture flights are operated by Vietnam Airlines between Hong Kong and Hanoi, as well as Ho Chi Minh City.
